Brydan (He/Him/Anh/Mader) is an Australian registered psychologist with a diverse background, including extensive experience as a criminologist and university lecturer academic.

 

With a rich history of living and working overseas, Brydan brings a global perspective to his practice. He employs an eclectic therapeutic style, tailored to meet the unique needs of each client.

Brydan is dedicated to creating a stigma-free, affirming, and inclusive environment for all his clients. He is continually learning and is passionate about making mental health services more accessible to at-risk and marginalised populations.

Brydan has a keen interest in minority stress and its impact on people with intersectional minority identities. He is committed to supporting individuals with experiences of different forms of trauma, sexual health and intimacy issues, and the unique difficulties faced by expatriates. Additionally, Brydan works with law enforcement and national security professionals, addressing their specific mental health needs.

As a member of the LGBT community, Brydan is particularly focused on supporting LGBT individuals. In Australia, he works with adults, those in rural and regional areas, and the LGBT community. His practice is based in Australia, but he travels regularly to Vietnam and other Asian countries to provide in-person support, complemented by online therapy and consultations.​

Brydan believes in the power of empathy, respect, and collaboration in the therapeutic process. He works closely with his clients to build resilience, promote self-awareness, and develop the skills necessary for managing mental health effectively.

Brydan is passionate about on-going and life-long personal and professional development. He is a psychologist registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). He is also a member of:

Brydan has a background in psychology, criminology, and academia. He has the following degrees:

  • Bachelor of Criminology - Deakin University​

Brydan's Interests

​Brydan works with adult-aged clients individually and in groups. He does not provide couples therapy. His mental health interests include:

 

  • emotion regulation difficulties

  • anxiety and panic

  • mood disorders (e.g. depression and bipolar disorder)

  • personality disorders

  • chronic pain

  • trauma - complex and Post-Traumatic Stress (cPTSD/PTSD), and identity-based trauma / minority stress.

  • sexuality and gender concerns (including WPATH Assessments)

  • role transitions and adjustment

While Brydan is not an ADHD or ASD expert, many of his past and current clients identify as neuro-diverse.
